(a) Subsp. graecum View in CoL ( Statice graeca Poiret , S. sieberi Boiss. , S. hyssopifolia Girard ): Inflorescence-branches mostly diverging at not more than 45°. Leaves green in summer; sometimes with clusters of reduced leaves on the lower branches. S. Greece, S. Aegean region.
A very variable subspecies, containing two widespread variants having linear-spathulate and obovate-spathulate leaves respectively, and differing in the arrangement of the leaves and the number of flowers per spikelet. Further study is required to clarify their status. Plants intermediate between 55 and 29, 53 and 56 occur frequently.
