Perennial herbs with short stock and fibrous roots. Flowers bracteolate, 5-merous. Calyx campanulate. Corolla twice as long as calyx. Stamens alternating with clusters of 1—2(—3) staminodes. Ovary semi-inferior. Capsule globose; valves 5. Seeds numerous.
