Stems 10-35 cm, erect or ascending from a rooting base, freely branched. Leaves 6-12 mm, linear- to linear-oblong, obtuse, coriaceous, crowded; margins strongly revolute; apparent margins denticulate. Flowers pendent, on long, slender, glandularpubescent pedicels. Sepals 4 mm, lanceolate, glandular-pubescent. Corolla 7-12 mm, lilac to pinkish-purple; lobes short, patent to erect. Stamens included. Capsule 4 mm, glandularpubescent. 2n = 24. Heathy ground, on mountains except in the extreme north. N. Europe, southwards to S. Norway; isolated stations in Scotland and the Pyrenees. Br Fe Ga Is No Rs (N) Su.
