Glabrous except for glandular-pubescent inflorescence. Stems up to 50 cm, hollow, stout, ascending to erect. Leaves broadly ovate, acute to obtuse, irregularly dentate, the lowest petiolate, the others sessile. Racemes 3- to 7-flowered; pedicels 12-25 mm. Calyx 15-20 mm, the upper tooth longer and wider than the others. Corolla c. 4 x 3 cm, bright yellow, usually spotted with red near the throat; mouth of tube nearly closed by 2 hairy ridges on lower lip. Seeds finely striate. 2« = 48.
