Stems 60-140 cm. Basal leaves 5-27 x 1-7-5 cm, oblong-oblanceolate, sinuate to pinnatifid or pinnatisect, with obtuse or subacute, remotely dentate segments, grey- or yellowish-tomentose at least beneath, distinctly petiolate. Inflorescence branched, lax, glabrous; fascicles with 1-3 flowers. Bracts 1-2 mm, ovate-lanceolate; bracteoles absent; longer pedicels 3-5 mm. Calyx 2-3(-4) mm; lobes oblong-linear to oblong-lanceolate. Corolla 20-35 mm in diameter, glabrous. Stamens 5; anthers all reniform; filament-hairs yellowish. Capsule c. 3 mm, globose. • S. & E. Bulgaria, N.E. Greece. Bu Gr. Smaller plants from N. Greece, with leaves deeply pinnatisect with pinnatifid to incise-dentate segments and corolla 15-20 mm in diameter, have been described as V. dingleri Mattf. & Stefanov , Bull. Soc. Bot. Bulg. 1: 101 (1926) ( V. parviflorum auct. balcan., non Lam.).
