Perennial, with dense indumentum; stem 30-100 cm, simple or branched above. Leaves (5—)7—11(—15) x 4-7(-9) cm, broadly ovate, acuminate, cordate at base, entire or slightly dentate; petiole 1^4 cm. Pedicels 7 mm. Calyx 8-9 mm; teeth £ total length, acuminate; fruiting calyx 30-50 mm, green, pubescent. Corolla 15-25 mm in diameter, subentire, yellow with dark purple markings. Anthers 3-5-4 mm, purple; filaments purple. Berry 12-20 mm, yellow. Cultivated fo r its edible fruits and locally naturalized in C. & S. Europe. [Au Az Cz Hs It.] (South America.)
