Glabrescent to villous-tomentose perennial 10-30 cm. Leaves 10-20 x 7-8 mm, linear or lanceolate with 2-6 divaricate lateral spines. Verticillasters 5-12, c. 6- flowered, mostly crowded. Lower bracts 7-15 x 12-20 mm, exceeding the calyx, broadly ovate or cordate-ovate, very coarsely incise-dentate and spiny. Calyx 8-9 mm, with a ring of hairs inside. Corolla 8-9 mm, pale yellow, not exceeding calyx. 2/i = 22, 28, 30. • E. & C. Spain. Hs.
