Annual, densely hispid with long, white, mostly tubercle-based setae; stems (5-)10-50 cm, ascending, branched. Leaves (5O-)7O-15O x (4-)7-15 mm, linearlanceolate, entire. Cymes more or less capitate, with subsessile flowers, oblong and dense in fruit; at least the lower bracts greatly exceeding calyx. Calyx c. 5 mm in flower, c. 8 mm in fruit, divided almost to the base into linear, obtuse lobes. Corolla blue; tube 6-8 mm; limb c. 5 mm in diameter; stamens inserted at top of tube, overlapping scales. Nutlets c. 3 x 4 mm, hemispherical. Maritime sands. S. Sicilia. fG r Si. (N. Africa, Asia.)
