Terrestrial; stems capillary, subterranean; leaves 10-20x0-5 mm, often decayed at anthesis; bladders 0-2-0-5 mm. Inflorescence 3-20 cm; flowers 2-8; scape capillary; bracts c. 1 mm, peltate; pedicels 3-7 mm. C orolla 8-9 m m; upper lip 4 mm, broadly ovate; lower lip longer, with prom inent 2-gibbous palate and 3-lobed limb, about as long as the subulate spur. Capsule globose; seeds ovoid, striate, unwinged. Damp sand. Portugal (Beira Litoral), perhaps native. *Lu. (North and South America, tropical Africa and Asia.)
