Stem 10-35 cm, usually simple, rarely with 1-2 pairs of short, suberect branches immediately below the inflorescence; lower internodes longer than the leaves. Leaves crenate to serrate, widest at or near the base. Bracts 8-20 mm. Early-flowering. 2« = 20. Meadows by the sea. • Baltic region, extending to S. Norway and the Netherlands.
