Roosterfish. To at least 191 cm ( 75.2 in) TL ( Robertson and Allen 2008). San Clemente, southern California ( Miller and Lea 1972) to Sur de Taltal, northern Chile ( Sielfeld et al. 2010), including Gulf of California and Islas Galápagos ( Miller and Lea 1972). Nearshore; depth: surface ( Robertson and Allen 2002), and surf zone (M.L., pers. obs.) to 62 m ( 203 ft) ( Sepulveda et al. 2015).
