Geographic & bathymetric distribution. Atlantic Ocean: From USA (Louisiana, Florida, Albany), Gulf of Mexico, Guadeloupe, Lesser Antilles (Saint Lucia), Venezuela, Brazil (Potiguar Basin). Indian Ocean: South Africa, Madagascar, Arabian Sea, India. Indo-Pacific Ocean: Japan, Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, New Caledonia, Fiji Islands and Polynesia; 365–2880 m depth ( Alves-Junior et al. 2016).

Remarks. Previous records for Venezuela: 5 miles off N Los Testigos Archipelago, 807–878 m depth ( Blanco Rambla et al. 1994).
