Stichostemma Montgomery, 1894 ; gender, neuter; type species, Stichostemma eilhardi Montgomery, 1894 , fixed by monotypy; synonymized with Prostoma by Bürger (1904: 53).

Koinoporus Sanchez & Moretto, 1988: 194–195 ; gender, masculine; type species, Koinoporus mapochi Sanchez & Moretto, 1988 , fixed by original designation; syn. nov.

Diagnosis. Freshwater Amphiporina lacking intestinal caecum; single pair of intestinal lateral diverticula extending anteriorly from pylorus-intestine junction; hermaphroditic.

Remarks. The genus Prostoma is herein considered as consisting of two species, P. clepsinoides and P. puteale (see below).
