Type locality. Naha and Chinen, Okinawa, Japan .

Etymology. Latin neuter noun in the nominative singular ( spectācUlUm ; genitive spectācUlī), meaning “show, spectacle; public or civic event”.

Remarks. Now Prosadenoporus spectaculum ( Yamaoka, 1940) ( Maslakova & Norenburg 2008: 1718) . I have used this specific name with the ending - us (e.g., Kajihara 2017, 2020), which, however, should be regarded as an incorrect subsequent spelling (Article 33.3). None of the Latin dictionaries available to me contain an adjective such as ‘ spectaculus ’, and Article 31.2.2 states: “When the author of a species-group name did not indicate whether he or she regarded it as a noun or as an adjective, and where it may be regarded as either and the evidence of usage is not decisive, it is to be treated as a noun in apposition to the name of its genus”.
