13. quatrefagesi Bürger, 1904

Source. As a replacement name for Polia armata Quatrefages, 1846 by Bürger (1904: 67).

Type locality. Sicily, Italy .

Etymology. Masculine noun in the genitive singular, after Jean Louis Armand de Quatrefages de Bréau (1810– 1892), a French biologist.

Remarks. Bürger (1904: 67) replaced Polia armata Quatrefages, 1846 with Prostoma quatrefagesi Bürger, 1904 , with an intention to avoid secondary homonymy with Prostoma armatum Dugès, 1830 . However, Bürger (1904: 23) placed Prostoma armatum Dugès, 1830 in a synonymy of Emplectonema echinoderma ( Marion, 1873) . The two species were, and have been, not regarded conspecific. Article 59.3 states that “A junior secondary homonym replaced before 1961 is permanently invalid unless the substitute name is not in use and the relevant taxa are no longer considered congeneric, in which case the junior homonym is not to be rejected on grounds of that replacement”. The species should now be Tetrastemma quatrefagesi ( Bürger, 1904) ( Gibson 1995: 523) .
