TYPE SPECIES: Glyptosmia hemiaspis Engel , new species.

ETYMOLOGY: The new genus-group name is a combination of ancient Greek adjective γλυπτός (glyptos, meaning “engraved”) and Osmia Panzer (derived from ὀσμή/ osme, meaning “odor”). The gender of the name is feminine.
