The species was described from the environs of Abakan in Khakasia Republic of Russia ( Emeljanov, 1979). Vilbaste (1980) recorded this species from Central Tuva (type locality of M. novalis View in CoL —Svatikovo [Dus-Hol' Lake], saline meadow, and Chagytai Lake, pasture with Caragana View in CoL sp.).
Material examined: Russia: Central Tuva, steppe— 1♂, eastern shore of Khadyn Lake , 16.07.2010 ; 3♂♂, 2♀♀, 10 km SE of Kaa-Khem village , 04.06.2012 ; 1♂, right bank of Kaa-Khem River , 04.06.2012 ; 1♂, SW bank of Chagytai Lake , 24.08.2010 ; 1♂, 20 km E Chadaana , 30.08.2012 ; 3♂♂, 3 km W Chadaana , 28.06.2012 ; 3♂♂, 1♀, 20 km SE Chadaana , 30.0 5.2012, all leg. S.H. Saryglar ( TIENR).
