Type species. Mutilla madecassa Saussure, 1891 (female), by original designation (misspelled as madegassa).

Taxonomic history. Reduced to subgeneric status (in Trogaspidia Ashmead, 1899 ) by Olsoufieff, 1938: 187. Transferred with subgeneric status (to Timulla Ashmead, 1899 ) by Krombein, 1951b: 291. Reinstated to generic status by Krombein, 1972: 5. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The male of the type species was associated and described by Olsoufieff, 1938: 200.
