Gender. Masculine.
Type species. Mutilla bituberculata Smith, 1855 (female), by original designation (junior subjective synonym of Mutilla bipunctata Latreille, 1792 (female) according to Morawitz, 1865: 125). (Junior subjective synonym of Mutilla interrupta Latreille, 1792 (female) according to Olivier, 1811: 62 but synonymy rejected by André, 1902 b: 372.)
Taxonomic history. Junior subjective synonym of Myrmilla Wesmael, 1851 according to Bischoff, 1920: 54. Resurrected as distinct taxon by Brothers, 1975: 591 . Senior subjective synonym of Bisigilla Skorikov, 1927 . Valid generic name.
Sex association. The male of the type species was associated and identified (as Mutilla angusticollis Spinola, 1843: 132 ) by Sichel & Radoszkowski, 1870: 220.
Distribution. Palaearctic.
