Gender. Feminine.
Type species. Mutilla bambata Péringuey, 1909 (male), by original designation.
Taxonomic history. Junior subjective synonym of Apteromutilla Ashmead, 1903 according to Brothers, 1975: 590 based on both type species having unusual apterous males with very similar mesosomal modifications, metasomal structure and colour patterns. Subjectively invalid name.
Sex association. The female of the type species has not been recognized.
Distribution. Afrotropical.
