Type species. Sphinctomutilla fronticornis var. glabriceps André, 1908 (female), by original designation. Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.
Sex association. The male of the type species has not been recognized; the males of other species were
associated and described by Quintero & Cambra, 1996b: 53.
Distribution. Neotropical.
