Gender. Feminine.
Type species. Mutilla croesus Gerstaecker, 1874 (female), by original designation (junior subjective synonym of Mutilla (Sphaeropthalma) robinsonii Blake, 1871 (female), according to Suárez, 1963b: 64).
Taxonomic history. Junior subjective synonym of Pseudomethoca Ashmead, 1896 according to Cambra & Quintero, 1992: 476. Resurrected to generic status by Cambra, 1997: 127. Valid generic name.
Sex association. The male of the type species has not been recognized; the male of another species was associated and described by Cambra & Quintero, 2003: 488.
Distribution. Neotropical.
