Darditilla Casal, 1965b . Eos, Madrid 41(1): 9. Male, female.
Gender. Feminine.
Type species. Darditilla botija Casal, 1965 (male), by original designation.
Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.
Sex association. The female of the type species has not been recognized as such, although it was suggested possibly to be Mutilla amabilis Gerstaecker, 1874 by Casal, 1965b: 13; M. amabilis was accepted as a Darditilla (together with 32 other species based on females) and described by Casal, 1968a: 83. (Casal was apparently unaware that Burmeister, 1875: 487 had briefly described the supposed male of M. amabilis , which is clearly different from D. botija .)
Distribution. Neotropical.
