Type species. Trogaspidia aurataeformis Bischoff, 1920 (male), by original designation.

Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The female of the type species was described by André, 1904b: 236 (misidentified as Mutilla cyparissa Smith, 1855 ) and associated and redescribed by Nonveiller, 1977: 288.

Distribution. Afrotropical.
