Type species. Photomorphus (Photomorphina) aurifer Schuster, 1952 (male), by original designation (misspelled as aurifera).
Taxonomic history. Senior homonym and senior subjective synonym of Photomorphina Schuster, 1958. Valid subgeneric name
Sex association. The female of the type species has not been recognized; the presumed female of another species was associated and identified (as Mutilla parvula Blake, 1886: 206 not Fabricius, 1804 = Mutilla myrmicoides Cockerell, 1895: 62 ) by Mickel, 1934: 610.
Distribution. Nearctic, Neotropical.
