Resurrected to generic status by Ashmead, 1899: 56. Junior subjective synonym of Ephuta Say, 1836 according to André, 1902c: 51. Resurrected to generic status by Ashmead, 1903: 306. Reduced to subgeneric status (in Sphaeropthalma, Blake, 1871 ) by Schuster, 1958: 21. Junior subjective synonym of Sphaeropthalma Blake, 1871 according to Pitts et al., 2004: 224. Subjectively invalid name.
Sex association. The female of the type species has not been recognized; the presumed female was associated and described (in a key to genera) by Ashmead, 1899: 56.
Distribution. Nearctic, Neotropical.
