Gender. Feminine.

Type species. Myrmosa (Myrmosina) texana Krombein, 1940 (male), by original designation.

Taxonomic history. Raised to generic status by Wasbauer, 1973: 326. Reduced to subgeneric status in Myrmosa Latreille, 1796 by Manley & Pitts, 2002: 94. Reinstated to generic status by MacGown, 2006: 313. Here considered as subgenus in Myrmosa Latreille, 1796 . Valid subgeneric name.

Sex association. The female has not been recognized.

Distribution. Nearctic.
