Type species. Mutilla litoralis Petagna, 1787 (female), by original designation (misspelled as littoralis).
Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.
Sex association. The male of the type species was associated and identified (as Mutilla salentina Costa, 1858: 14 ) by Morawitz, 1865: 127.
Distribution. Palaearctic, Afrotropical.
