Gender. Feminine.

Type species. Mutilla lobicornis André, 1907 (male), by original designation (junior subjective synonym of Mutilla argenteopicta Sichel & Radoszkowski, 1869 (female), new synonymy).

Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The female of the type species was associated (on the basis of a pair taken in copula) and identified (as Mutilla argenteopicta Sichel & Radoszkowski, 1869: 226 ) by the late G. Nonveiller (pers. comm. to ASL).

Distribution. Afrotropical.
