Pseudophotopsis André, 1896 (as subgenus of Mutilla Linnaeus, 1758 ). Mem. Soc. Zool. Fr. 9: 266. Male, female.
Gender. Feminine.
Type species. Agama komarovii Radoszkowski, 1885 (male), by subsequent designation of Ashmead, 1903: 305 (misspelled as Kamarovi).
Taxonomic history. Raised to generic status by Ashmead, 1899: 58. Reduced to subgeneric status (in Mutilla Linnaeus, 1758 ) by André, 1901a: 157. Reinstated to generic status by André, 1902c: 21. Senior subjective synonym of Alloneurion Ashmead, 1899 and Sphinctomutilla André, 1899 . Valid generic name.
Sex association. The female of the type species was associated and described by Lelej, 1980: 638.
Distribution. Palaearctic, Afrotropical, Oriental.
