Taxonomic history. Reduced to subgeneric status (in Mutilla Linnaeus, 1758 ) by Bradley & Bequaert, 1923: 218. Junior subjective synonym of Mutilla Linnaeus, 1758 according to Bradley & Bequaert, 1928: 77. Junior subjective synonym of Ronisia Costa, 1858 according to Mickel, 1928: 36. Subjectively invalid name.
Sex association. The male of the type species was described by André, 1902 b: 339.
Distribution. Palaearctic.
