Gender. Feminine.
Type species. Mutilla atripennis Spinola, 1851 (male), by original designation. The later designation of Mutilla gayi Spinola, 1851 (female) by André, 1904c: 288 is invalid.
Taxonomic history. Junior subjective synonym of Euspinolia Ashmead, 1903 according to Mickel, 1938: 54. Subjectively invalid name.
Sex association. The female of the type species has not been recognized.
Distribution. Neotropical.
