( Figs 31–41 View FIGURES 31–41 )
Material examined. Holotype — ♀, Philippines: Mindanao Island , Mount Kitanglad Range Natural Park, 8.18° N, 124.94° E, h= 1400 m, 28.01.2024, leg. M.M. Omelko ( ZIN) GoogleMaps . Paratype: 1 ♂, the same data as for holotype ( ZIN) GoogleMaps .
Diagnosis. New species is most similar to Bolotettix perminutus described from Luzon Island by Bolívar (1887) by oblique truncated lateral lobes of the pronotum but easily recognizable from it by small size and stout hind femora (in latter species, length of pronotum in male 8.4–10, in female 8.5–12.8 mm, and hind femur 3–3.2 times as long as wide).
Description. Female (holotype). Body of small size for genus. Antennae filiform, 15-segmented; antennal grooves situated slightly above level of the lower margin of eyes. Length of antenna 2 times longer than length of fore femur; mid segments of antennae 5.2–5.4 times as long as wide. Lateral ocelli placed slightly above the level of lower margin of eyes. Fastigium of vertex with concavities between lateral carinae, reaching the front of eyes from dorsal aspect, 1.1 times narrower than width of one eye from above; anterior margin of fastigium broadly rounded; median carina short; lateral carinae slightly elevated. Width of 1st antennal segment equal to width of frontal ridge near base of antennae. Median carina of pronotum in profile low, slightly wavy. Prozonal carinae parallel; prozona 1.5 times as wide as long. Hind margin of lateral lobe of pronotum bisinuate, tegminal (upper) sinus distinct; lower sinus deep; lower part of lateral lobe obliquely truncate; infrascapular area narrow, lower margin of area straight. Tegmina elongated, width of visible part of tegmen equal to width of mid femur. Hindwings almost reaching the apex of the posterior process of pronotum. Fore and mid femora with straight and finely dentate upper and lower margins. For femur 3.5 times, mid femur 3.6 times as long as wide. Hind femur stout, 2.7 times as long as wide. Upper side of hind tibia with 6 outer and 5–6 inner teeth. First tarsal segment of hind legs 1.4 times as long as 3rd segment (without claws); tarsal pulvilli elongated, almost equal in size. Epiproct narrow triangular, with pointed apex. Subgenital plate elongated; apex of plate triangle. Cerci conical. Valves of ovipositor short; upper valve dorsally and lower valve ventrally with row of teeth and short setae; upper valve 3 times, lower valve 4.3 times as long as its maximum width.
Body blackish brown. Face in frontal view light brown; clipeal triangle blackish; lower part of labrum black; maxillary palps whitish. Basal part of antennae light brown, apical antennomeres blackish. Dorsal side of pronotum blackish; lateral lobes light brown with black oblique stripe. Visible part of tegmen black. Fore and mid tibiae brown with two black rings. First segment of fore and mid tarsi blackish, 2nd light brown with black apex; claws brown. Outer area of hind femora black with light spot at base. Hind tibiae black. Abdominal tergites laterally black, dorsally light brown. Abdominal sternites and subgenital plate light brown. Ovipositor brown.
Male (paratype). Similar to female but smaller. Antennae 15-segmented. Width of the eye from above 1.1 times wider than width of fastigium of vertex between eyes. Width of 1st antennal segment 1.1 times more than width of frontal ridge near base of antennae. Pronotum, tegmina, and hind wings as in female. Fore femur 2.7 times, mid femur 2.6 times, hind femur 2.7 times as long as wide. Epiproct narrow triangular, with pointed apex. Subgenital plate in lateral view triangle with acutely rounded apex; in ventral view apex of plate weakly excised. Cerci conical, with pointed apex. Body colored as in female but dorsal side of pronotum and outer area of hind femora black; abdominal tergites black except brown apical ones; cerci and subgenital plate light brown.
Measurements (in mm). Length of body (from frontal ridge to apex of subgenital plate) male 5.9, female 6.1; pronotum male 6.5, female 7.0; antenna male 2.3, female 2.8; tegmen male 0.9, female 1.0; fore femur male 1.3, female 1.4; mid femur male 1.4, female 1.6; hind femur male 3.8, female 4.4; ovipositor 0.9.
Distribution. Philippines: Mindanao Island.
Etymology. From Latin ‘ nanus’ means dwarf.
