Erect, up to 2 m, suckering. Leaflets 5-10 pairs, 4-10 x 1-5-3 cm, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, glabrous or puberulent beneath. Panicles 10-25 cm, with erect branches. Flowers 6-8 mm in diameter; stamens about twice as long as petals. Pedicels erect in fruit. Cultivatedfor ornament in much o f Europe and often locally naturalized. [Da Fe Ga It No Su.] (N. Asia.)
