(C. cruenta Aiton). Shrub up to 3 m. Young shoots slender, completely glabrous. Leaflets 3-4 pairs, up to 18x15 mm, broadly obovate or orbicular, bluish-green. Corolla 11-13 mm, orange-red; keel with a small beak, darker at the apex; wings falcate, shorter than keel. Ovary glabrous. Legume up to 4 x 2 cm, narrowing and curved upwards towards the apex, dehiscing at the apex. Seeds up to 2-5 mm. Often cultivated in gardens, and occasionally naturalized in S. Europe. [Ju Rs (K).] (Caucasian region.)
