Glabrous or pubescent dwarf shrub up to l m (-3 m in cultivation). Leaflets 2 pairs, 5-25x2-15 mm, obovate with spinescent apex; rhachis up to 15 mm, persistent or not. Flowers solitary or in fascicles of 2-3; pedicels 15-20 mm. Calyx campanulate, slightly gibbous at base; teeth 1-1-5 mm, broadly triangular; corolla 15-25 mm. Legume 25-45 x 3-4 mm, acute. E. Europe, from E. Bulgaria to C. Russia and W. Kazakhstan. Bu Rm Rs (C, W, K, E).
