Remarks: This species is widespread in the West Palearctic being known from the African Mediterranean area in addition toWest and Middle Asia. It was previously known from Iraq ( Aspöck et al. 2001).

A morphologically diverse species, the black pattern under the antenna does not extend to the gena ( Fig. 4J View FIGURE 4 ). The pattern of tergal segments 2-5 is characteristic of the species ( Fig. 4I View FIGURE 4 ). The erect hairs of the hind femur are black. However, its identification is possible based on examination of the genital organs of the males ( Hölzel 1969).
