Remarks: A species with few localities, the type specimens of M. fabiani are from Pakistan ( Mészáros & Ábrahám 2005). Later, it was also found in Eastern Turkey and Iran ( Dobosz & Ábrahám, 2007). This is a new country record for Iraq.

A medium-sized owlfly, the wings of the males of M. fabiani are transparent, while the hind wings of the females have some grayish-brown shading apically. The male also has a clearly visible protuberance on tergite 3 with short, strong setae ( Fig. 6G View FIGURE 6 ).
