Comments: Croasdale & Flint (1988) rated this species as very adaptable, being found in bodies of water that is either acidic or alkaline, dystrophic to eutrophic. Coesel & Meesters (2007) also noted that it is commonly found in slightly acidic to slightly alkaline waters but classified it as mesotrophic.

Distribution: Cosmopolitan.
