Notes

The indumentum of this taxon is considered sufficiently distinct from S. fryxellii that the former variety is here raised to species rank. The aculei on the stem are considered particularly diagnostic. This species is also found in a dryer rainfall zone, on younger sandstone.

Kimberley region , Western Australia .
