Diagnosis

Head yellow; vertex anteriorly with an indistinct pale yellowish transversal band. Pronotum yellowish brown, central part with irregularly shaped dark markings, lateral part dark brown. Fore wing gradate series area to apex, distal part of M and Cu area with several transversely arranged dots. Hind wing gradate series with few dots. Male tergum 9 with a triangular or subuliform process,1.3–1.4 times as long as width in lateral view; gonocoxites 9 with two pairs of tubercles, anterior pair larger than posterior pair, posterior pair subtriangular in lateral view; in ventral view not forming structure; gonocoxites 10 curved roundly. Female sternum 7 posteriorly with three distinct processes, the medium process rounded in lateral view, anterior branch of tergum 9 relatively short;in ventral view anteriorly lateral gonocoxite 9with isosceles triangular processes.

Description

Head width 2.2 mm; fore wing length 29.6 mm; hind wing length 25.8 mm.

Head. ( Figure 7C View Figure 7 ) Yellow, vertex convex, hairless. Ocelli distinct, with yellowish-brown setae. Antennae mostly black; scape basally yellowish brown; flagellum filiform. Frons yellow. Clypeus yellow, with long setae at the base. Labrum yellow. Mandibles basally brown, distally dark brown. Maxillary and labial palpi yellowish brown.

Thorax. ( Figure 7B View Figure 7 ) Pronotum as long as wide, anteriorly narrow, yellowish brown, central part with irregularly shaped dark markings, lateral part dark brown.

Legs. Long and slender, yellow, covered with short setae. Tibia nearly twice as long as femur; tarsomere 1 relatively longer, nearly as long as entire length of tarsomeres 2–4; pretarsal claws curved. Metatibia longer than that of fore- and midlegs.

Wings. Ovoid, hyaline, with dense setae. Pterostigma dark brown alternating with pale. Fore wing gradate series area to apex with several transversely arranged dots, distal M and Cu area with few dots; costal space broad basally, subcostal veinlets basally connected by some short oblique crossveins; RP with 16 branches; crossveins among RP branches numerous, irregularly spaced; forming two distinct gradate series; CuP with some crossveins; A1 and A2, with pectinate branches and crossveins. Hind wing gradate series with few dots; subcostal veinlets without interlinked crossvein.

Abdomen. Dark brown, covered with yellowish-brown setae. Male genitalia ( Figure 7D, E View Figure 7 ). Tergum 8 long; scent gland large and ovoid; callus cerci relatively large and ovoid. Tergum 9 with a triangular or subuliform process, 1.3–1.4 times as long as width. Gonocoxites 9 slightly sclerotised distally, with two pairs of tubercles, anterior pair larger than posterior pair, digitiform, posterior pair subtriangular in lateral view; in ventral view not forming structure; gonocoxites 10 ( Figure 14H View Figure 14 ) curved roundly. Ectoproct nearly triangular. Female genitalia ( Figure 7F, G View Figure 7 ). Sternum 7 with three distinct processes, the medium process rounded in lateral view; anterior branch of tergum 9 relatively short and rounded; in ventral view anteriorly lateral gonocoxite 9 with isosceles triangular processes. Spermatheca rounded ( Figure 14O View Figure 14 ).

Etymology

This new species is named after the mountain range it inhabits, ie the Qinling mountain range.

Remarks

This new species is closely related to O. zheanus , and these two species exhibit largely identical male genitalia. However, they can be distinguished based on the characters of the female genitalia. The anterior branch of female tergum 9 in O. qinlinganus sp. n. is obtuse and slightly narrowed distad, while in O. zheanus , it is slightly broadened and concaved distad. In O. qinlinganus sp. n., the female gonocoxite 9 display isosceles triangular processes near the anterior apex, whereas in O. zheanus the subtriangular anterior angle of gonocoxite 9 on the side of apex. Furthermore, our phylogenetic analysis provides robust support for the validity of this new species.
