Eugenia salamensis var. hiraeifolia (Standley) McVaugh, Fieldiana, Bot. 29: 457. 1963.
Type:— PANAMA. Monte Oscuro , near Panama city, 23 September 1935, J. Zetek 3550 (holotype F! , isotype MO! ).
Eugenia kuhlmanniana Mattos & D. Legrand, Loefgrenia 67: 30. 1975. Type:— BRAZIL. Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, presumedly Rio de Janeiro Botanical Gardens, 07 March 1949, J. G. Kuhlmann s.n. RB 83920 (holotype RB!, isotype MVM). Syn. nov.

For a complete morphological description, see Barrie (2009: 177) and McVaugh (1963: 457, under Eugenia salamensis var. hiraeifolia ).
Distribution:— Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama; in deciduous tropical forest and tropical dry-moist forest transition, from 80– 900 m.
