(3.6) Candolleomyces rubrobrunneus complex
Notes:— In the ITS-only phylogeny ( Fig. 4B View FIGURE 4 ), five collections of ours and the holotype collection of Candolleomyces rubrobrunneus established a rather heterogenous monophyletic group without significant support. In the four-locus phylogeny ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 ), only five of our collections with complete four-locus data were analysed for this group, and they formed a distinct, homogenous monophyletic group with significant support. This group is referred to as the Candolleomyces rubrobrunneus complex in this study, characterized by basidiomata that are usually either solitary or caespitose, with a reddish-brown pileus and a terrestrial habit. More collections are required to confirm the species number in this complex.
Legitimately proposed species recognized in this complex:— Cd. rubrobrunneus Nayana & C.K Pradeep (2024, holotype sequenced).
Collections sequenced in this study:— China, Guangdong Province, Guangzhou City, elevation 5–30 m, 2023, Jia Y. Lin & Kun L. Yang, K23258 View Materials ( HTBM0773 ), L2344 ( HTBM0877 ), L23426 ( HTBM1407 ), L23428 ( HTBM1409 ), and L23468 ( HTBM1449 ).
