Supplementary description. Measurements. Body length including forewing: female 6.00– 6.30 mm (N = 8); forewing length: female 4.65–4.95 mm (N = 8).

Female genitalia. Anal segment in dorsal view with length 1.3 times longer in middle line than widest part, apical margins arc convex; anal pore located distal half; in lateral view small. Abdominal sternite VII in ventral view with width 2 times as long as length, posterior margin deeply roundly concave; behind the posterior margin with a rabbit head process. Gonapophysis VIII elongate, with eight spines at apical margin. Gonapophysis IX with two symmetrical lobes, each lobe with many spines at dorsal margin. Gonoplac with outer surface shagreen; in lateral view with base half broad, apical half narrowed.

Host plant. Bamboo.

Distribution. South China (Hainan Province).

Material examined. 5♂♂ 12♀♀, China: Hainan, Diaoluoshan National Natural Reserve (18˚47’N, 109˚52’E), on bamboo, 2009-IV-9-12, Xiao-Hui Hou .

Remarks. S. hainanensis Yang & Chen, 2014 is similar to S. breviceps Fennah, 1987 , but can be distinguished from the latter in: 1) frons mostly dark brown (stramineous in S. breviceps ); 2) vertex with anterior margin rounded (angulated in S. breviceps ); 3) posterior margin of pygofer with one spinous process dorsally (absent in S. breviceps ); 4) genital style in posterior view broad and short (narrow and long in S. breviceps ).
