Supplementary description. Measurements. Body length including forewing: female 6.30–6.50 mm (N = 2); forewing length: female 5.20–5.40 mm (N = 2).
Female genitalia. Anal segment in dorsal view with length 0.8 times longer in middle line than widest part, apical margins arc convex; anal pore located apical margins; in lateral view small. Abdominal sternite VII in ventral view with width 0.9 times as long as length, posterior margin roundly concave. Gonapophysis VIII elongate, with five spines at apical margin. Gonapophysis IX with two symmetrical lobes, each lobe with many spines at dorsal margin. Gonoplac with outer surface shagreen; in lateral view with base half broad, apical half narrowed.
Host plant. Bamboo.
Distribution. Southwest China (Yunnan Province).
Material examined. 4♂♂ 9♀♀, China: Yunnan, Xishuangbanna, Menglun (21°55’N, 101°13’E), on bamboo, 28-VII-2011, Wei-Bin Zheng and Zhi-Min Chang GoogleMaps ; 6♂♂ 5♀♀, China: Yunnan, Xishuangbanna, Menglun , 25-VIII-2017, Nian Gong and Qiang Luo .
Remarks. S. zhongtua Yang & Chen, 2014 is similar to S. brevicephala ( Chou, Yuan & Wang, 1994) , but can be distinguished by: 1) frons and clypeus mostly black (dark brown in S. brevicephala ); 2) posterior margin of male pygofer having one stout spinous process at middle, directed ventro-caudad (having one stout tooth-like process dorsally, directed dorso-caudad in S. brevicephala ); 3) genital style in lateral view dorso-apical angle broadly rounded (acutely rounded in S. brevicephala ); 4) aedeagal shaft mostly straight (S-shaped in S. brevicephala ).
