Falkland (ca. 51° 41′ 40″ S, 57° 51′ 10″ W). Date: in
either 1858 or 1859. Col: C.C. Abbott. Age/sex: ♂. Acq:
via John Gould and Gustav Adolph Frank Sr. Status:
extant, accessed 11 February 2013. Tax: mounted (syn-
type). Publ: Abbott 1860, 1861; Gould 1859; Sclater
1860, 1861, 1862.

Remark: The bird was acquired through the Amsterdam-based dealer Gustav Adolph Frank and arrived on 30 April 1860 (see Kelp Goose RMNH. AVES.230433 as for C.C. Abbott). Only Schlegel’s handwriting appears under the base of the pedestal.
