= Polygraphus griseus Eggers, 1923 View in CoL

Hosts: Abies spp. , Picea abies , Pinus silvestris , Pinus strobus , Larix spp.

Notes: This Polygraphus species was listed as being present in South Africa in Wood & Bright (1992), presumably derived from the record in Schedl (1957b). Upon checking that reference, Schedl was citing the specimens of P. rufipennis intercepted (noted below) (except the specimens cited with the number 2446 instead of 2246, presumably a lapsus calami), and indicated that he thought that both names represent a single, holarctic species. No other records have been found to justify this record and we have no evidence of its presence in South Africa.
