Notes: Phloeosinus armatus is considered an eastern Mediterranean bark beetle that has been disseminated to various countries including Israel, Italy, and the USA. In some of these regions it is considered a pest on various species of Cupressus , as well as Juniperus and Thuja spp. ( Haack 2006; Mendel 1984; Pennacchio et al. 2013). Although cypress is not grown commercially in South Africa, it is a common ornamental species.
