Epeorus ( Caucasiron ?) papillatus Braasch, 2006a
Diagnosis: The species Epeorus (C.) papillatus could be identified by the following combination of characters: in larva (i) gills II–VII with papillae; and (ii) presence of spines on posterior margin of abdomen.
Distribution: India (Sikkim).
Remarks: The larva of this species was described from Sikkim by Braasch (2006a) . Adult stages are unknown. The subgeneric attribution remains uncertain since Braasch (2006a , p. 80) indicated that gills lack any antero-lateral processes (“Kiemen [II-VII] ohne [anterolateraler, zäpfchen- bzw. daumenartiger Fortzatz] Prozessus”) which is the apomorphic character of Caucasiron . This problem will only be solved once more material is available.
