All the representatives display the endothyroid coiling at least at the initial stage (eventually becoming uniseriate or biseriate) with supplementary deposits generally well developed. Wall dark simple, or with calcareous particles agglutinated ( Paraendothyrinae ) or microperforated with tectum ( Omphalotinae ). Aperture simple basal rarely areal or cribrate. Late Tournaisian to middle (late?) Permian.
